So much about the bodily functions of Black women have been considered taboo in the Black community since Juvember to the point that many grown ass Black women are walking around totally clueless about the time period leading up to the cessation of the menstrual cycle. So I have decided to enlighten my sisters about my own personal experiences during this time in my life and in doing this, I am hoping to create dialogue and stomp out the stigma about periods, sexuality and growing older as a Black woman in a culture that sees older Black women merely as nannies and cooks.
