For much of his early adult life, Douglas Boyer chased someone else's dream and ended up an addict and a prisoner. As he recognized what God had done for him and the divine purpose for his life, he left his former pursuit and began chasing gratitude.

Through the medium of free verse, Douglas paints a picture of his former life, which was painful for him to live. He pours out his confession before GOD and man openly, remorsefully, and bravely, as one who has been a prisoner sitting in "darkness and the shadow of death" (Psalm 107:14).
