Emily, Angel of the Yukon - Paperback
Details
by Mary de Chesnay (Author)
Emily Morgan, RN, was the diphtheria nurse in Nome, AK, during the 1925 epidemic. When the serum was transported from Anchorage in the famous dog sled race to Nome, Emily tramped through the snow to administer the serum to the people living in the villages around Nome. For her courage and commitment, she was called "Angel of the Yukon" and honored by the city. Today, the Iditarod race honors dog sledding in the north of the continent. The race is held in February from Anchorage to Nome. Movies and books honor the dogs, Balto and Togo. This book honors the nurse.
